TRADITIONAL SANGRIA
Makes 1 Pitcher
1 Bottle of Red Wine
1/2 cup Agave Nectar
1/2 cup Orange Liqueur
1 Orange, sliced in rounds
1 Lemon, sliced in rounds
1 Lime, sliced in rounds
Soda Water
Ice
Pour the bottle of red wine into a large pitcher. Mix in the agave nectar and orange liqueur. Add the fruit. Cover and let sit overnight in the refrigerator.
Note: if you are making this sangria to serve on the same day, make sure to muddle the fruit well so that the flavors combine, otherwise you can just allow the flavors to combine overnight
To serve, fill wine glasses with ice, fill 3/4 of the way with the sangria and top with soda water. Garnish with fruit slices.
SUMMER PEACH SANGRIA
Makes 1 Pitcher
1 Bottle of Blush Wine or Pink Zinfandel
1/4 cup Orange Liqueur
1/4 cup Peach Brandy
2 Peaches, thinly sliced
1/2 Lemon, sliced in rounds
1 Lime, sliced in rounds
Rose Champagne
Ice
In a punch bowl or pitcher, mix together the blush wine, orange liqueur and peach brandy. Add the peach slices, lemon slices and lime slices. Let sit for at least four hours.
To serve, fill wine glasses with ice, fill 3/4 of the way with the sangria and top with champagne. Garnish with fruit slices or an edible flower.
NOTE: If you do not have time to prepare in advance, muddle the citrus into the wine to help the flavors combine. Do not muddle the peaches.
NON-ALCOHOLIC SANGRIA
Makes 1 Pitcher
12 ounces pomegranate juice, 12 ounces grape juice
1 Cup fresh squeezed Orange Juice
1/4 cup of honey
1 Orange, sliced in rounds
1 Lemon, sliced in rounds
1 Lime, sliced in rounds
Soda Water
Ice
Pour the pomegranate juice, orange juice and honey in a pitcher. Mix well. Add the fruit. Cover and place in the refrigerator. Be sure to make this version a day ahead of time because you really want those flavors to combine! If you do not have time to make the recipe in advance, muddle the fruit into the juices to help release the flavor.
To serve, fill wine glasses with ice, fill 3/4 of the way with the “sangria” and top with soda water. Garnish with fruit slices.
