Hosted by Los Angeles Emmy Award-winning talent Pat Matthews, BOX OFFICE AMERICA provides a light- hearted and, sometimes, irreverent look at the nation’s ten highest-grossing pictures of the week. On-location interviews, behind-the-scenes perspectives and movie clips are sprinkled liberally throughout to enhance this fast-paced, half-hour countdown show. In addition, full-length theatrical trailers of upcoming releases and soundtrack music videos are showcased to keep you primed with anticipation. What makes BOX OFFICE AMERICA different from all the other Hollywood-’centric’ programs currently cluttering the airwaves? Well, besides the absence of interminable reviews from self-important critics and lack of silly fluff pieces about a television personality’s eating habits, the show focuses exclusively on the world of motion pictures…52 times a year. Box Office America has been written and directed by LARRY SHANNON since November,1990

Larry has been with the show since its June 1990 inception. He was also the chief designer of the BoxOffice America format.

A lifelong film fanatic with an encyclopedic knowledge of the business of movies, especially post-1980, Larry earned a bachelor’s degree in Radio-Television-Film at California State University, Northridge, with an emphasis in television production.

Among his many accomplishments prior to joining the Box Office America team, Larry produced segments for the Emmy Award winning newsmagazine show Valley Magazine and directed the CableAce Award winning series Eye Music.

He currently resides in the San Fernando Valley with his wife and two daughters.

Box Office America has been hosted by Pat Matthews since 1995.

Pat was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. While growing up, Pat developed an appreciation for different music genres and dreamed of a career show business. Still in high school, Pat got his first break as a disc-jockey on the local AM Top 40 station,  KGLA. Thanks to his friend Charley Young, Pat was able to get his foot in the door with his weekly 15 minutes of fame.

Once in college, Pat began working for a local “underground” FM station. Over the next 17 years, Pat worked various radio jobs in New Orleans despite offers to move to other cities.

Now, ready to take a chance on Hollywood, Pat moved to Laguna Beach,CA in1987 and immediately landed a job as a Program Director and morning man on Orange County’s legendary KWIZ-FM. Within a year he was hired as a co-anchor on Orange County’s KDOC television news. He left KDOC in 1995 to join the team at Box Office America.

Pat lives in Mission Viejo,CA with his wife Annie, daughters Melanie, 21, Morgan, 19 and son Frank, 12. Besides hosting Box Office America, he teaches college students the “ropes” of the Voice Acting business, has his own recording studio for radio and television voice-overs and, since 2001, has operated his Internet Radio Station, Beatles-A-Rama!!! ERICA provides a light- hearted and, sometimes, irreverent look at the nation’s ten highest-grossing pictures of the week. On-location interviews, behind-the-scenes perspectives and movie clips are sprinkled liberally.
